Short answer

Choose SIW Home Edition for personal, non-commercial use on your own computers. Choose SIW Technician's Version for portable professional support work across computers. Choose SIW Enterprise Edition when a business, government agency, school, or other organization needs organization-wide licensing and includes the Technician's Version.

The core SIW product helps you inspect Windows hardware, software, and network information in every edition. The main decision is how you will deploy SIW, who will use it, and which licensing and support model your work requires.

Choose Home Edition if you are buying for yourself

Home Edition is the right fit when you need SIW for personal, non-commercial use and will install and activate it on your own computers. It is the simplest option for a home user who does not need portable technician workflows, remote execution, or organization-wide licensing.

  • Use it on up to three activated computers, with the ability to deactivate an installation when moving the license to another computer.
  • Plan for an installation and online activation; the purchase page lists WMI as required for Home Edition licensing.
  • Choose a different edition if you will inspect computers for customers, an employer, or other organization.

Choose Technician's Version for professional support work

Technician's Version is designed for people who troubleshoot or document multiple Windows computers. It is portable, so you can launch it from a USB flash drive or network share without installing the application on each computer.

  • Use the same portable toolkit for help-desk visits, field service, consulting, and internal IT support.
  • Use remote execution, priority support, and optional customization features listed on the purchase page.
  • Remember that portable does not mean unprivileged: normal use requires administrator privileges and loads a kernel-mode driver. Follow your organization's application-control and malware-scanning requirements.

Buy Technician's Version or evaluate SIW first.

Choose Enterprise Edition for organization-wide use

Enterprise Edition is intended for businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and other organizations that need to license SIW for computers they own, lease, or manage. It includes the Technician's Version, so an organization can use the portable technician workflow as part of its broader deployment.

  • Use the organization-level license instead of licensing individual technicians or PCs.
  • Deploy SIW on computers owned, leased, or managed by the licensed organization, subject to the current license agreement.
  • Choose Enterprise when procurement, support, customization, or organization-wide use matters more than the lowest single-user price.

Buy Enterprise Edition and review the SIW License Agreement before deployment.

What all editions have in common

SIW editions provide the same broad system-information focus: hardware details, installed software, Windows configuration, network information, and report/export capabilities. The edition choice changes deployment and licensing rather than replacing the need to verify what a particular computer exposes through firmware, Windows, and available hardware sensors.

Paid editions are sold with one year of free updates. The purchase page describes the software license as perpetual and updates as a subscription that renews automatically unless canceled. An expired update subscription does not stop the installed SIW from operating, but newer hardware and software may not be supported.
